The Art of Doing What You Hate: How One Procrastinator Gets Things Done
Sometimes I have to do things I don’t want to do.
Sound familiar?
If you’re job hunting, I bet that’s ringing in your head right now.
I can empathize.
Maybe my simple process for moving myself along when I feel disheartened and stuck will help you. Here goes.
Identify what’s grabbing your leg.
Or your arm. Or fingers (if you’re trying to update your resume!).
If you don’t know what part of whatever you’re doing is causing you to feel uneasy, you can’t get around it.
Do some soul searching. Break down what needs to be done into small chunks. Which chunk is tripping you up?
Can you outsource that chunk?
Virtual assistants, resume writers, and other helpers abound on Upwork, Fiverr, and other platforms. Go get someone, but remember you need to be very specific in your instructions and provide examples (video can be good for this!) to achieve your desired outcome.
If you can’t outsource it, can you do it differently? Maybe you can cut it out altogether.
