Why Your Resume Bullets Matter

Recruiters spend 6–7 seconds scanning a resume before deciding if they’ll keep reading. That means your bullet points need to pack a punch.

The best way to do this? Use the CAR method.

CAR stands for:

  • Challenge — What problem or responsibility did you take on?
  • Action — What did you do to address it?
  • Result — What was the measurable impact?

This simple formula turns generic job descriptions into compelling achievements that show your value to an employer.

How to Use the CAR Method for Your Resume

Step 1: Identify the Challenge

Think about a problem you solved, a goal you achieved, or a responsibility you had.
